It is great to have multiple ways to be reached, but it may be helpful to keep track of your student’s/family’s preferred method of communication. If all your students have phones, a text or email connection may simplify communication rather than offering 4-5 different ways to be reached. This means fewer places you have to check for communications and fewer messages getting lost.
- Have a set time for students to check postings/assignments.
- Collect resources for questions and referrals for issues beyond yourself: technology, counseling, community resources. See Social-Emotional-Behavioral Health section for national resources.
- If your school offers multiple online classes, try to keep the learning platforms and routines consistent across classes, as much as possible.
