How to Get Ready for an Online Class for Educators

Hear what students find helpful when getting ready for online learning

It is great to have multiple ways to be reached, but it may be helpful to keep track of your student’s/family’s preferred method of communication. If all your students have phones, a text or email connection may simplify communication rather than offering 4-5 different ways to be reached. This means fewer places you have to check for communications and fewer messages getting lost.

  • Have a set time for students to check postings/assignments.
  • Collect resources for questions and referrals for issues beyond yourself: technology, counseling, community resources. See Social-Emotional-Behavioral Health section for national resources.
  • If your school offers multiple online classes, try to keep the learning platforms and routines consistent across classes, as much as possible.
