Course Description

This is unit 4 of 5 units. The sequence of units is available in the Read Me First Materials in each unit. The MS Health Science Service Area course consists of five units that will raise awareness among middle school students of how the healthcare system works and the variety of occupations that exist in healthcare. The course consists of five units that provide a broad overview of healthcare occupations and what it is like to work in a healthcare profession. An introduction to some of the basic occupational skills required of healthcare professionals is included. Professionalism, communication and teamwork are emphasized throughout. The final unit utilizes key information from prior units and provides a capstone experience for students. All Iowa Health Science Middle School Standards will be covered upon completion of the five units.
