Course Description

The ILC Middle School Financial Literacy Semester 1 materials are designed as a semester-long course. The course materials utilize content from Next Gen Personal Finance, as well as original developer content. The intention of this course is for all students to learn by doing as much as possible. They will practice personalizing financial information throughout the course. The students will choose jobs, receive paychecks and pay bills. They will learn about the things they need to budget for to pay their bills. They will have the opportunity to research and make individual choices within their budgets. They will also explore banking, credit, debt, and taxes.

Standards
These instructional materials are available to assist educators in implementing Iowa’s Academic Standards. Curriculum leaders and teachers should review these instructional materials to ensure full implementation of Iowa’s Academic Standards in the local curriculum. Each module identifies standards that are addressed and assessed.
