Course Description
This is unit 4 of 8 units. The sequence of units is available in the Read Me First Materials in each unit.
- Section A: Count to Add and Subtract
In this section, students learn to see adding as putting together two groups and counting the total number of objects, and subtracting as taking away a number of objects from a group and counting what remains. - Section B: Represent and Solve Story Problems
In this section, students represent and solve story problems with playgrounds and parks as contexts. The types of problems are limited to Add To, Result Unknown and Take From, Result Unknown. - Section C: Addition and Subtraction
Expressions In this section, students formally work with expressions for the first time. They match expressions to story problems and drawings and articulate why an expression represents a given problem or drawing.
