Course Description

In this personal development course students will learn about what kind of person they want to become and what strategies they can use in developing those characteristics in themselves. Students will explore how their past experiences influences their habits, tendencies and perspectives, and how they can choose to shift or fine-tune their life trajectory by making intentional decisions in their relationships, choices, and habits. Through a number of interviews with adults in all stages of life and backgrounds, as well as professionals from a variety of service industries, students will learn not only "what I wish I'd known at your age" but also, what supports are available in their community, now as a teen, or at any age in their future. Students will conduct interviews with adults they admire in their own community, participate in a community service project of their choice, and create a personal growth action plan in order to put into practice all they've learned throughout the semester.
