Course Description

In this course, learners continue their intermediate work in Spanish in four key areas of world language study: listening comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing, preparing them for a wide range of basic interactions with people, places, and things in their new language environment. 

Unit 4 

  • Students will add vocabulary in the area of health, well being and the human body. 
  • Students will work on grammar skills related to: subjective, exhortations (subjective), imperfect subjective, if-clauses, relative pronouns in complex sentences, compound tenses (with subjective) 
  • Students will work on the cultural aspects of the happiness of Spanish speaking countries, transitions from country and city living and cultural reading. 

Unit 5 

  • Students will add vocabulary in the area of living abroad, studying abroad and completing job applications and interviews. 
  • Students will review: moods and tenses, comparatives in clauses (de vs. que), salir, ir and irse, indicative or subjective 
  • Students will work on the cultural aspects of Spanish speaking countries in preparation for studying abroad.
Standards
These instructional materials were built with the ACTFL World Readiness Standards for Learning Languages in mind. Curriculum leaders and teachers should review these instructional materials to ensure full implementation of relevant standards. Each module identifies standards that are addressed and assessed, and this course creates a year-long curriculum when combined with ILC High School Spanish III - 2nd Semester.
Prerequisites

High School Spanish III - Semester 1 & 2 unless students have prior Spanish-speaking experience.
