ILC ELA 7 - 2nd Semester
The ILC ELA 7 - 2nd Semester materials are designed as a 2nd semester course. Semester 1 and Semester 2 will be available separately for download. The following offers a summary of the year-long course: The overarching focus for all modules is building students’ literacy skills as they develop knowledge about the world. The modules are designed to provide teachers with concrete strategies to address the “instructional shifts” required by the standards. The Grade 7 texts consist of A Long Walk to Water by Linda Sue Park; Lyddie by Katherine Patterson; “Commonwealth Club Address,” “The Wrath of Grapes,” and “Statement at Pacific Lutheran University” by César Chávez; The People Could Fly: The Picture Book by Virginia Hamilton; Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass by Frederick Douglass, various informational articles, and more. A curriculum map and each unit overview provide specifics relating to learning goals. The Teacher Instructional Guide includes further details.
ILC ELA 7 - 1st Semester should be completed before ILC ELA 7 - 2nd Semester, as it is a year-long course.
