ILC ELA 5: Module 2 Additional Language and Literacy (ALL) Block

This module supports the concepts taught in ILC ELA 5: Module 2 Researching to Build Knowledge and Teach Others, Biodiversity in the Rainforest. Unit 1, students practice reading fluency with passages from The Most Beautiful Roof in the World, engage in close reads with complex text, and write summary paragraphs. Word study focuses on suffixes and how suffixes change the meaning of new words. Unit 2, students practice reading fluency with passages from The Most Beautiful Roof in the World, determine the meaning of the figurative language used in a complex text, and focus on how prefixes and roots change the meaning of new words. Students also practice writing informative paragraphs. Unit 3, students focus on grammar, usage, and mechanics, as well as determine the function of different parts of speech used in sentences. Students make inferences about a character's point of view and analyze how affixes change the meanings of words. Note: The ALL Bock module is an integral part of the program to ensure all standards are addressed; therefore, it should be downloaded with the corresponding content module.
