ILC 4th Grade Mathematics: Unit 1 Factors and Multiples
Mathematics
Course Description
This is unit 1 of 9 units. The sequence of units is available in the Read Me First Materials in each unit.
- Section A: Understand Factors and Multiples
In this section, students will learn about the meaning of factors and multiples by relating them to the concept of area. They will use square tiles to build rectangles with given length and width. Then, they will find the area of the rectangles. Students will discover that some numbers have many factor pairs and others have only one possible factor pair. Students will decide if a number is prime or composite based on how many rectangles can be made with that number as the area. - Section B: Find Factor Pairs and Multiples
In this section, students apply what they learned about factors and multiples to play games and solve problems in different contexts.
